The foreign ministers of Russia and Iran, Sergei Lavrov and Mohamad Yavad Zarif, have analyzed in a telephone conversation this Saturday the regional situation after the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani during a US operation in Iraq, as confirmed by the Iranian Foreign Ministry .
“Mohamad Yavad Zarif and Sergei Lavrov have just examined the situation in the region and in the world by telephone after the murder of General Soleimani,” according to the note, collected by the official Russian news agency, RIA Novosti.
The minister took the opportunity to communicate his condolences for the death of Soleimani, while Zarif continued with his international round of homologous contacts from Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and China, Wang Yi.
In this last conversation, the Chinese diplomat told Zarif that the United States should abuse its strength and seek solutions through dialogue.
The attack, according to Wang, violates the basic norms of international relations and will worsen tensions and turbulence in the region, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry collected by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua.
