It is important that you are comfortable in your office so that you can increase yours productivity and improve yours health. There are many small steps you can take to create a good environment for yourself. You can start by implementing the following tips to improve your work day, take care of yourself, and reduce work overload injuries.

1. Choose a good chair and adjust it perfectly

You probably spend half of your time in the office and yours writing desk. Hence, it is important to have a chair that supports your spine. Make sure it is a height adjustable chair so you can put your feet on the floor. You can use a pillow to give your back more support. These changes reduce back pain and thus increase your productivity.

2. Adjust your monitor properly

Your computer screen should be at the same level as your eyes. Use books or a special stand to lift this monitor or you will have to bend your back and neck to see what you are writing. This can lead to neck and back pain in the future. However, when your monitor is higher than your eye level, the constant arch of your head is putting unnecessary pressure on your neck.

3. Adjust the light

A good office should have plenty of windows to let in natural light. If you can’t afford this luxury, use soft lighting. It’s much healthier than that produced by fluorescent lighting. The lights should be placed on the ceiling and your desk should have a table lamp for the cloudyest days.

4. Take breaks

If you have to work on your computer more than four hours a day, protect your eyes. Try to blink more often and look away from the monitor every half hour. If possible, stop for a drink to help relieve tension on your body. If you are VERY busy, be sure to look away from the computer for 20 seconds at least every 30 minutes.
