The coronavirus pandemic has not only put health professionals, scientists, and researchers to work, but it has also given rise to technology companies proposing innovative solutions to avoid contagion. Such is the case of Xiaomi , a firm that developed an electronic mask that purifies the air up to 95 percent.
Named after the Xiaomi Youpin Q5S Electric Anti Haze Sterilizing Mask, the device was originally created to combat the pollution and haze that forms in some Chinese cities in the fall and winter. Although it is not yet confirmed that it protects from COVID-19 , if it would get an infected person to spread it to others.
This device can also protect us from dust, pollen, formaldehyde, gases emitted by vehicles, particles of up to 0.3 centimeters and even germs. All this through a dynamic filter that cleans the air we breathe with an efficiency of 95%, according to its manufacturer.
The device is charged through a USB port and has a plastic and cotton casing. Also, its interior is made of silicone which allows it to adapt to the user's face.
