With a plugin for the WordPress web publishing platform, users can now timestamp content on the Ethereum blockchain.
The plugin can help with copyright issues, prove who created content and reassure readers that it has not been changed.. WordPress currently supports about 37% of all websites and has a 60% share of the CMS market.
Amsterdam-based WordProof announced this at the BlockDown 2020 blockchain conference, on October 22nd in London.
The timestamp is important as it provides a unique fingerprint or hash for the latest version of the content that has been added to the blockchain.. This is evidence that the content owner created it and that it has not been edited or tampered with. Furthermore, The site has a time trial for publications that can be used for potential copyright conflicts.
Jelle van der Schoot, WordProof Product Manager, explained this The company’s vision is to be the most user-friendly timestamping tool in all content management systems and e-commerce platforms. WordProof is also compatible with EOS and Telos.
“Adding support for Ethereum is an important step in achieving this goal. We look forward to welcoming the Ethereum community!”
The crypto world is increasingly being integrated into WordPress. In April 2020, a blockchain incubator called Draper Goren Holm unveiled the first DEX plugin for the CMS platform. The plugin allows website owners to have a built-in DEX that allows users to trade between cryptocurrency tokens and stablecoins..
The official WordPress site already has three pages of plugins that are categorized as crypto. The most popular are a cryptocurrency payment portal with over 10,000 active installations and a crypto price widget with over 7,000 active installations.
