The elected President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, has agreed an orderly transfer of power with outgoing President Danilo Medina, for which he has formed several technical commissions.
Abinader, who won the presidential election on July 5 in the first round on behalf of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), met Medina on Wednesday in the National Palace to decide what to do before the inauguration on August 16. .
“We are organizing everything so that it is a transfer of command,” said the opposition leader after his meeting with Medina, according to the Dominican newspaper “Listón Diario” in press releases.
To this end, he reported that he had ordered three technical commissions to be set up to deal with protocol issues and to evaluate potential members of the future government. For its part, Medina has set up the Government Transition Commission.
