The 2020 school year in Mexico has been strongly affected by the cessation of classroom activities due to sanitary measures to stop the outbreak of the coronavirus responsible for the Covid-19 disease in the country.
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) suspended classes from March 20 to April 20 in the first instance, and then extend the return until April 30 to take advantage of the time offered by the Easter holiday period.
A few days ago, SEP denied rumors that this year's school year would be suspended entirely and that it would return to classrooms until September. Esteban Moctezuma Barragán , head of the agency, affirmed that alternatives are maintained to continue the school year, such as maintaining its educational programming on the Ingenio TV television channels and strengthening the Aprende en Casa program .
For the moment, the SEP maintains April 30 as the official date for the reactivation of activities for the elementary, secondary and high school levels and has not informed whether the suspension of summer vacations would be used to make up the lost days of the school year.
The Covid-19 pandemic is a phenomenon that is updated every day, so we will be informing through our digital platforms if the provisions of the SEP should change.
