The fact is: Mexicans really like Christmas. According to a survey by research company De la Riva Group, out of 800 people across the country celebrated nine out of ten Christmases last year. In this way, it became the most important festival of 2016 in Mexico, surpassing Mother’s Day (79%) and Father’s Day (57%).
Christmas is also the time of year when it is most spent. According to a recent study by the Mexico City Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism in Small (Canacope), the average spend on a Christmas and New Year dinner, including gifts, is 4,000,717 pesos for a family of four to six members.
Aside from buying gifts, food and beverages for dinner, parties and meetings, the purchase of the Christmas tree and other Christmas accessories are the main payout categories.
Because of the Christmas panorama in Mexico which is full of the cost of buying things that are often thrown away in a closet or warehouse, or even in the trash, the idea is to offer a professional Christmas decoration rental service. To do this, it is not necessary to rent a commercial space, but to prepare a space at home or in a warehouse that will serve as a warehouse for the items that will be part of your catalog: from artificial trees, series and spheres to outdoor lighting and giant ones Santa Claus characters and births. This requires a minimum investment of $ 150,000.
To hit the market, you can set up a website (for $ 30,000) to display your catalog along with the terms and conditions of the lease (per day, week, or month) to reach private customers – most of them young people from the middle and upper classes became increasingly used to the collaborative economy and were therefore interested in using certain products for a while instead of purchasing them. On the other hand, there are corporate clients, i.e. offices, corporations and corporations, who need both decoration advice and rental of Christmas items (including cleaning and maintenance services).
Although this is a seasonal business, you have the option of using your infrastructure and contacts to offer decoration as the year progresses. For example: February 14th, National Holidays and Halloween.
