The Ministry of Health and the governments of Mexico City and the State of Mexico announced that non-essential activities will be suspended at these facilities must be closed from December 19 to January 10, 2021due to the increase in the number of infections and hospitalizations with the coronavirus COVID-19 in the Valley of Mexico.

- Financial services (banks)
- Telecommunication services (television, landline and mobile telephony, internet, etc.)
- Sale and manufacture of medicines
- Various repair and spare parts workshops
These are the activities related to the public sector that will continue to operate::
- Tax sector
- public safety
- Water service
The health officer stressed that all of these activities must strictly follow the health safety protocols in effect as of June 1st.
For his part, the Governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, said: Although the suspension of non-essential activities causes economic harm to families, Health must be privileged, lives saved, mobility reduced, infection rates and hospital stays reduced.
He made it clear that the list of essential activities will be published in the official gazettes of Mexico City and the state of Mexico.
