Amazon will face new competition for its subscription service Prime Later that month, Walmart launched a rival for $ 98.

The new Walmart + membership program launches September 15 for $ 98 per year or $ 12.95 per month after an initial 15-day trial. In return for your money, Walmart offers unlimited free shipping on orders over $ 35. More than 160,000 items can be delivered on the same day.

Some Walmart customers may already be paying for this service, previously known as Delivery Unlimited, but “Subscribers will automatically become Walmart + members later this month,” says Walmart.

Additional member benefits include fuel discounts of up to 5 cents per gallon, available at nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express gas stations in the United States. Walmart intends to add Sam’s Club gas stations to the discount program in the near future. The Walmart unlock app set also includes a feature called Scan and Go. You can scan items as you walk through Walmart for a quick, contactless checkout process when you’re done.

“We are a company that is committed to serving our customers’ needs,” said Janey Whiteside, director of customer service at Walmart. “Customers know they can trust us and rely on us, and we designed this program as the best life hack for them. Walmart + will bring together a comprehensive set of benefits where we see our customers’ greatest needs and needs where our scales can deliver. Solutions of unparalleled value. “

Walmart would like to point out that membership benefits are in addition to existing benefits for customers, including roadside collection, next day delivery, and two day delivery. The company also refers to Walmart + benefits as the “first list,” suggesting that there are plans to expand the reasons for enrollment once it is up and running. Perhaps lowering the barrier to free shipping by $ 35 should be one of the first improvements you consider.
