The Vietnamese government has confirmed the first local case of coronavirus in downtown Da Nang for more than three months.
The victim is a 57-year-old man who tested positive in two PCR tests performed during July 23, the Ministry of Health reports in a statement collected by the official agency VNA.
The man who lives in the Lien Chieu district has rarely left his residential area and only met his neighbors.
The Da Nang Health Department also took evidence from 102 people who had close contact with the case with their family members.
All 102 samples from these people were tested negative, the authorities said.
Vietnam is seen as a role model in the fight against the corona virus. The country, with a population of 95 million, has only registered 416 infections and no deaths.
