Venezuela exceeds 2,000 cases of coronavirus with complete de-escalation

Venezuela has exceeded 2,000 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, while the death toll is 20, as President Nicolás Maduro announced, who insists that the majority are imported cases while the country is de-escalating.

Maduro announced in an official act from Miraflores Palace on Thursday that 135 new positives were registered on the last day, of which 104 were imported and only 31 were transmitted by the community, for a total of 2,087.

The Bolivarian leader insisted that community transmission among the local population remains low and blamed the increase in COVID-19 infections for imported cases.

In this sense, he denounced that 15 people were arrested on Thursday for bringing people to Venezuela for illegal crossings of the land border, popularly known as “trochas,” for between $ 50 and $ 100 per person.
