The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has announced that the election campaign for the November 21 elections will begin this Thursday, in which Venezuelans will elect regional and municipal representatives.
Maduro stated in an intervention on the Venezuelan television channel that 72 political parties can be elected in these votes and that there will be more than 70,000 candidates spread across Venezuelan territory.
He appealed to the candidates to make alternatives and suggestions in their campaigns and aimed at the “search for solutions”. “The November 21 vote is the greatest token of love for Venezuelan democracy,” he said.
“It is very important that we arrive on November 21st with a firm conviction: that the vote is for peace, for the consolidation of the democratic system, for a real Venezuelan liberation,” said Maduro.
In these elections, the representatives are decided on boards of governors, mayor’s offices and legislative and municipal councils, so Maduro has advised citizens to “familiarize themselves with the electoral system”, which has different options depending on the municipality and state.
“We have the best electoral system in the world. The safest, most transparent. Technically shielded,” decided the President.
