The French authorities have ordered up to ten months in prison for those first charged with the riots and looting that took place in Paris following the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) defeat in the Champions League final by Bayern Munich last Sunday 0-1.

The defendants, reports the French newspaper “Le Figaro”, were prosecuted mainly for violent crimes against the authorities and serious theft.

The harshest sentence, ten months in prison and immediate detention, was given to a man with a previous conviction for the crime of robbery and break-in in a pharmacy.
