On Friday, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Michael Lynk, described Israel’s control strategies over the Palestinians as an “affront to justice”.
In his report to the UN Human Rights Council, he noted that these strategies “violate the principles of modern legal systems, harm millions of innocent people, increase tension and lead to greater violence”.
In this way, it has asked Israel to “immediately stop” any practice that constitutes a collective punishment against these people. “It is a violation of justice and the rule of law to see that these methods continue to be used in the 21st century and that Palestinians continue to be collectively punished for the actions of a few,” said the United Nations expert.
Lynk has claimed that all of these practices “seriously violate the Palestinian human rights”, among which he has led the right to life, free movement, health, decent housing and decent living.
