About 60 people died and another 60 were injured in an armed attack in the Sudanese region of West Darfur, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on Sunday.
The UN office has reported that the attack, which was carried out by around 500 armed men, took place on Saturday in the city of Masteri near the border with Chad and less than 50 kilometers from the state capital El Geneina.
“Tensions in West Darfur continue after the number and frequency of incidents, especially near the capital El Geneina and Masteri in the city of Beida, has increased rapidly in recent weeks,” he said.
From OCHA, they recalled that there were at least seven episodes of violence between July 19 and 26, in which dozens of people died and were injured, in addition to town and house fires and an unconfirmed number of displaced people. according to preliminary information.
