Ukraine reports 2,328 coronavirus infections, a record since the pandemic began

The Security and National Defense Council of the Ukrainian government reported 2,328 new infections from coronavirus in the past 24 hours this Saturday, the maximum since the pandemic began.

The total number of sufferers is 102,971, while 51,735 patients have already been cured, 657 of them in the last 24 hours. In addition, there are 37 other deaths for a total of 2,244 deaths. Active cases are 48,992.

The Ukrainian authorities have introduced an adapted quarantine system since August 1, which divides the regions of the country into a color code – red, yellow, orange and green – based on the pressure on the hospitals number of tests carried out, incidence rate of Covid-19 and daily number of infections.

Globally, Covid-19 has claimed 799,625 lives and 22,968,146 confirmed infections have been identified, according to Johns Hopkins University. The disease originated in China, but now the main focuses are in countries like India, the United States, and several in Latin America.
