“We just want to bring peace to our country, we want to return to our territories, give them back to our people,” said Yermak, who insisted that Zelensky made it clear to Biden at this meeting between the two leaders that Ukraine had no intention of any kind To attack land.

For its part, Russia on Thursday condemned the transport of “heavy weapons” through Ukraine to the border, calling the reports pointing to a possible invasion of Moscow “lies”.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova said that “the special observation mission of the OSCE in Ukraine has uncovered the transport of heavy weapons, including large-caliber artillery and armored vehicles, through Kiev,” he reported to Sputnik Agency.

Russia’s alleged interest in an invasion of eastern Ukraine “is a lie,” said the chief of the Russian general staff, Valery Gerasimov.

The Minsk Agreements, signed in September 2014 and February 2015, laid the foundations for a political solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, but have so far not led to an end to the violence. According to United Nations estimates, around 13,000 people have died in the fighting so far.
