UK surpasses 125,000 deaths from COVID-19

The UK hit 125,168 deaths from COVID-19 this Thursday after adding 181 more in the past 24 hours.

However, data presented by the UK Department of Health shows that the downward trend in disease-related deaths is consolidating. 190 deaths were reported on Wednesday.

The new infections have recovered slightly with an additional 6,753 compared to the 5,920 the previous day. A total of 4,241,677 people have been infected with COVID-19 in the UK since the pandemic began.

Regarding the hospital situation, the UK Department of Health has detailed that 532 people have required admission in the past 24 hours. So far, 8,977 people in the European country are hospitalized with the disease caused by the new coronavirus and 1,237 of them require mechanical ventilation.

Data from the UK health authorities shows that more than 23 million people received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while more than 1.3 million were also vaccinated with the second.

According to the Sky News chain, 88.9 percent of the population over the age of 60 have already received their first dose of the drug, and 21.8 percent of people between the ages of 16 and 59 have done the same.
