UK police rule out Starmer breached restrictions by having a beer in an MP’s office

Durham Police in England have concluded this Monday that Labor Party leader Keir Starmer did not breach restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic by having a beer in an MP’s office .

Police have analyzed video showing Starmer at work having a beer ahead of the Hartlepool town elections in April 2021 and have decided not to pursue the investigation as they believe she has not breached the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

“We do not believe there has been a crime in relation to the laws and regulations in force at the time,” said a Durham Police spokesman, quoted by the BBC.

Starmer had previously reiterated that it was a working meeting and that he had not breached the restrictions, amid voices insisting his behavior was linked to Downing Street partying in a pandemic.

The British opposition leader is particularly critical of Prime Minister Boris Johnson because of the celebrations. British police are currently investigating a total of 12 social gatherings at Downing Street.
