Colombian security forces arrested two people allegedly involved in the murder of five young people between the ages of 14 and 16 that took place a few weeks ago in a neighborhood in the city of Cali in the southwest of the country.
According to the Caracol radio station, prosecutors have ordered the arrest of Juan Carlos Loaiza Ocambo, 26, and Yefferson Marcial Angulo Quiñonez. Both are currently working as carers.
The arrest took place as part of a raid in the districts of Marroquín and República de Israel in the capital, Valle del Cauca. The two detainees, along with two other men, allegedly shot and killed the minors killed in a series of events on the Las Flores farm, where sugar cane is grown.
The Colombian President Iván Duque has shown his “solidarity” and expressed his “condolences” to the families of the victims. He was also briefed on the latest report on the case by Attorney General Francisco Barbosa.
