Local authorities said two people disappeared in a landslide in Hiroshima, Japan in the west of the country on Tuesday.
The landslide occurred around 6:00 p.m. (local time) in the city of Higashihiroshima. Rescue workers are looking for information from a Japanese news agency, Kiodo, about a woman in her eighties and her son in her fifties.
Heavy rains in the past few days are likely to have triggered the landslide. Rainfalls have occurred at numerous locations in Hiroshima since the beginning of this month, which is twice as much as usual in July, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The death toll in Japan from these rains has risen to 72, with 68 deaths recorded in Kyushu.
