Twelve Syrian soldiers die in clashes with jihadists in mountain areas near Idlib

At least 12 Syrian military personnel died in a confrontation with the Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS) jihadist group in a mountain area near the Idlib province (northwest) on Monday, according to the Syrian Human Rights Observatory.

The London-based organization and whistleblowers in the Arab country said the army was trying to move forward in the Tal al Hadadá area in the mountainous region of Yabal al Akrad when the clashes with HTS took place.

For example, he explained in detail that fighting broke out in an area north of the province of Latakia, adding that the army subsequently used artillery to attack the group’s positions in Idlib after retreating after the fighting.

The observatory stated on its website that the clashes resulted in 17 wounded soldiers, in addition to four HTS and two National Liberation Front members who were killed.
