Twelve people were arrested by the Israeli police earlier this morning after a night of protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after a corruption trial had started against him and his management of the coronavirus pandemic.
Around 10,000 people gathered late Saturday in Pariser Platz in Jerusalem, one of the epicentres of the mobilizations to demand the Prime Minister’s resignation. This was the most popular protest against “Bibi” so far.
The demonstration went without incident, although alleged supporters of the Israeli prime minister were attacked in the previous protests and the police only intervened after 1:00 a.m. (local time) to end the mobilization. .
Police said 12 people were arrested after various groups of demonstrators refused to withdraw from the area and resisted agents’ instructions to leave the place, according to The Times of Israel newspaper reported. .
