MADRID, June 6 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The conflict in Libya over the offensive launched by Khalifa Haftar against Tripoli in April 2019 emerged over the months in a multi-country scenario in which Ankara’s military support for the unitary government finally accepted a shift in the local equilibrium, which forced the quarterback to accept a ceasefire and a political process.

Haftar’s offensive, which struck Tripoli and threatened to conquer the capital earlier this year, has nevertheless suffered a number of serious defeats in the past few weeks that have caused its forces to withdraw to the east.

The internationalization of the conflict has existed since the 2011 uprising against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, which led to a civil war characterized by foreign interference, including that of NATO and several regional countries, in support of various militias that finally overturned the conflict and executed ‘raises’.
