Turkey announces the start of a ground operation against Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday night the launch of a ground operation in the areas of northeastern Syria under the control of Kurdish forces, hours after starting a bombing campaign in this area.

“The Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army – a coalition of rebel groups supported by Ankara – have launched the land operation in the eastern part of the Euphrates River, as part of the 'Operation Peace Spring',” he said in a Brief message in your account on the social network Twitter.

The Turkish operation has started days after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, took a 180-degree turn to the Washington alliance with the SDS, until then a key ally in the fight against the Islamic State, and withdrew his troops from the area to allow the Turkish offensive.
