WASHINGTON, Sep 16 (Reuters / EP) –
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, is scheduled to meet next week with the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, and that of India, Narendra Modi, in the states of Ohio and Texas, respectively.
The White House has indicated that the leader will travel to the Texas city of Houston on September 22 to participate in an event with Modi, where both will discuss “the possible ways to strengthen the commercial and energy relationship” of both countries.
Later, the New York tycoon will go to Ohio, where he will meet Morrison, with whom he will go to a new Australian facility. This same week Morrison will visit the White House for a state dinner, the second held since Trump came to power.
Last June, the United States ended its preferential commercial dealings with India, which has led to the departure of the Generalized System of Preferences from the country.
Since then, Indian and American trade negotiators have met several times without success. The parties had resumed talks after Trump and Modi met in the framework of the G20 summit.
