Trump signs executive order to cut insulin costs thanks to government aid

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed a law on Friday that allows cheaper imports of prescription drugs, especially insulin, and bypasses Congress’ decision after the Chamber refused to pass democratic laws on this issue.

“Today, I am taking bold and historic measures that are very drastic to lower the price of prescription drugs for American patients and older Americans,” said the president.

The goal is to lower the cost of medicines containing insulin and EpiPens with discounts for low-income people and use lower international prices to pay for some medicines offered under the state’s Medicare senior insurance program.

Trump will meet with pharmaceutical officials on Tuesday, but some industry analysts have said the move may not have a big impact.
