The President of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Tuesday that his government “has nothing to do with the alleged naval invasion” that took place on the Venezuelan coast of La Guaira on Sunday as part of a broader operation to overthrow the United States CEO of Nicolás Maduro took place.
What happened in Venezuela “has nothing to do with our government,” the New York magnate said in press releases in the White House before leaving for Arizona.
Trump specifically responded to the arrest of two Americans in the raid. “Whatever the relationship (these two people with the attack) is, has nothing to do with our government,” he said.
Maduro denounced that “a group of mercenaries and terrorists” tried to enter Venezuela along the coast of La Guaira, encountering opposition from Venezuelan troops. At least eight died and thirteen were arrested, including the two Americans.
