The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has assured this Wednesday that he will stop taking hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug with no proven anti-coronavirus activity, within “two days”.

“I think the regime ends in a day or two. I think in two days,” said Trump, who started taking the drug preventively after a member of his team tested positive for COVID. -19.

Hours earlier, White House spokesman Kayleigh McEnany defended the use of hydroxychloroquine and claimed it was “safe,” according to CNN television.

“Hydroxychloroquine is a drug that has been used against lupus, arthritis and malaria for 65 years. It has a very safe profile,” said McEnany. However, he has stated that “like any medication that a doctor needs to administer to a patient, nobody should take it without a doctor’s prescription.”
