The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has assured this Friday that he has signed a “very tough” executive order to protect American monuments after some of them have recently become a target of demonstrators in different parts of the country that the they consider “racist” or “imperialist”.

“I just had the privilege of signing a very strict executive ordinance to protect American monuments, monuments, and statues,” Trump said on his Twitter account, adding that the ordinance was also intended to “combat recent criminal violence.” .

“Long sentences for these illegal actions against our large country,” he warned. Trump said Tuesday that he was preparing the executive regulation in question, although he didn’t provide any additional details.

He also said that he authorized the government to arrest anyone who destroyed or damaged monuments or statues, and threatened the demonstrators involved in these actions with up to ten years in prison.
