Trump is giving the company that owns TikTok 90 days to cease operations in the United States and remove the data

August 15, 2020

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed an executive order this Friday authorizing a 90-day period for ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, to end its activities in the country and dispose of the data.

Trump accuses the app of putting Americans at risk of data theft or propaganda from the Chinese-born company.

“There is real evidence to lead me to believe that ByteDance … could take action that could endanger the national security of the United States,” the president said.
