NEW YORK, Sep. 23 (DPA / EP) –
The American president, Donald Trump, has come by surprise to the summit on climate change that is held at the UN, an appointment in which his assistance was not planned, and has taken a seat to listen to the speakers.
The president has been accompanied by the vice president, Mike Pence, and by the secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and has been applauded some of the interventions. However, Trump has not heard the UN secretary general, Antonio Guterres, or the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who had already spoken.
Yes, he has been able to hear the intervention of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as that of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trump has repeatedly expressed his skepticism about climate change and has backed down on some environmental measures in the United States.
