Trudeau kneels with protesters in a protest against racism in Ottawa

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has kneeled alongside protesters in a peaceful protest against racism in the city of Ottawa as part of mobilizations in several countries following the death of Afro-American citizen George Floyd. by the police in Minéapolis, United States.

This Friday there were several protests in different parts of Canada, such as Toronto, which were carried out under the slogans “Black Lives Matter”, “I can’t breathe” and “George Floyd, say your name”, as reported by the local newspaper ‘The star’.

Demonstrators have also sung in honor of Regis Korchinski-Paquet, a 29-year-old African American who died last month after falling from a high park skyscraper with the police present. His death is currently being investigated by the Ontario Police Special Investigations Unit.

At one point, Toronto police chief Mark Saunders knelt beside protesters in the city and raised a fist while demanding justice for black victims of police brutality.
