The Tokyo city government confirmed 212 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours this Sunday. This is the fourth day in a row that more than 200 cases have occurred while infections have risen again in the capital.
Experts have indicated that of the overall positive results, 109 more than half were between 20 and 30 years old. In all cases, the capital has already registered 19,333 infections, as can be seen from the balance collected by NHK.
The authorities are urging residents to remain on high alert as the situation in Tokyo remains extremely serious and have urged their citizens not to travel outside of Tokyo or go to their places of origin and avoid group meals.
Some health experts recently suggested that infection recurrence peaked as early as late July. The country has already recorded nearly 62,000 cases and around 1,700 deaths.
