Japan’s capital, Tokyo, registered another 131 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, a further increase since the beginning of the new surge in infections that was identified after the end of the emergency in late May.

It is the third day in a row that the Japanese capital has exceeded 100 infections, according to the NHK’s official balance sheet.

On Thursday, the capital reached 107 cases, more than a hundred for the first time since May 2, and on Friday the number of new infections reached 124.

The authorities have stressed that there are currently no plans to close the shops or re-declare the state of emergency as the infections reach younger people who are at less risk of hospitalization.
