The President of the Common Revolutionary Alternative Force (FARC), Rodrigo Londoño, aka ‘Timochenko’, pointed out Tuesday that the recruitment of minors had taken place among the ranks of the already demobilized guerrillas, but never in a forced manner.
Londoño said during a conversation with the radio station Radio Santa Fe that, despite the recruitment of minors, none of them were forced to take up arms by force, and under his leadership those guerrillas who are convinced with cheating the youngest to sign up.
Londoño’s revelations come a week before some twenty former guerrilla leaders, including himself, have to appear before the Special Justice for Peace (JEP) to obtain information on the existence, origins and development of the mechanisms that enabled the guerrillas to bring minors into Include the armed conflict.
In addition to Londoño, Jaime Parra, aka ‘El Médico’, will be attending the JEP headquarters from August 18th. Edgar López, aka ‘Pacho Chino’; Jorge Torres Victoria, also called “Pablo Catatumbo”; and Julián Gallo, known among others as “Carlos Antonio Lozada”.
