Thousands of people took to the streets in various parts of New Zealand on Monday to take part in protests against the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after being arrested by police in Minneapolis.

In the city of Auckland in the north of the country, approximately 4,000 people directed the march to the American consulate, according to the New Zealand Herald, indicating that the protests have spread to Wellington, Christchurch and Dudedin.

In Wellington, a demonstrator was briefly tied to one of the fences at the U.S. Embassy facility after a vigil attended by around 500 people.
