In May of this year, we learned that Tesla, an Elon Musk automotive company, was ruling out Mexico as a location to build its future assembly plant. The Mexican newspaper stated that the Jalisco government worked with Tesla last year to get the facility in the state. “However, we were affected by the federal energy strategy, in which the amount of energy required by such a system was 400 megawatts, we could not offer in the short term,” Ernesto Sánchez, head of the Ministry of Economic Development, told the media.
Tesla is currently building a new factory in Austin, Texas. This follows Musk’s threats to move Tesla manufacturing from California to Texas. Likewise, the eccentric CEO chose to live in Texas for tax reasons.
