This Friday the arrival of the virus in Mexico was confirmed.
This morning Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez , Undersecretary of Health Prevention and Promotion, confirmed the presence of two cases of COVID19 coronavirus in Mexico . Both patients traveled to northern Italy in recent days and are already being treated by the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (INER).
Dr. Samuel Ponce de León Rosales, coordinator of the University Health Research Program (PUIS) of the UNAM, explained in a video for the university explained that the virus is transmitted by large drops that can be expelled when talking and remain around and recommended keep a distance of more than one meter between people when there is suspicion of infection.
There are several recommendations that we must follow to avoid the spread of coronavirus and respiratory infections in general. As reported by the UNAM Gazette, there is a rigorous “respiratory label” to avoid exposing ourselves and others to viruses .
This consists of:
- Do not spit on public roads
- Wash your hands constantly
- Avoid hand and kiss greetings
- Cough at the angle of the elbow
- Do not self-medicate or use miraculous remedies
- Go with a health professional in case of suspicion
And most importantly, “don't let anxiety and unnecessary alarmism worry us.” It is essential to be informed from reliable sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health.
