The NGO Alarm Phone warned of the possible shipwreck of two boats with 95 and 45 people on board off the coast of Malta in the Mediterranean in the early morning hours of this Sunday.
As the organization said through its Twitter account, 95 people in the search and rescue area of Malta are at risk because their boat’s engine is no longer working and water is entering.
“The situation on board is critical. The Maltese and Italian authorities are being informed but are not answering. Help!” Alarm Phone said through his Twitter account. “We are dying,” cry the victims, according to the organization, for help.
The NGO has assured that a second boat, also in Malta’s search and rescue area, has asked for help after escaping Libya with 45 people on board. “Another boat in need with 45 people on board fleeing Libya called Alarm Phone tonight,” said the NGO.
