They strengthen the security system around Rutte in view of the risk of possible kidnappings

The security forces have decided to strengthen Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s security system as there is a possibility that mafia groups are trying to kidnap him and bet on his life.

The decision was made, according to information from the Telegraaf newspaper, after intelligence information about possible kidnapping “plans” by gangsters who had hired criminal groups to do so.

Although the intelligence services have not confirmed the information because “the security and protection situation” should not be disclosed, sources close to the matter have indicated that the devices have been strengthened.

Thus, the device would now have the presence of agents from the Royal and Diplomatic Protection Service, who would have taken “visible and invisible” measures to protect the President.

The presence of a security device in parliament has attracted comments, although many said it was due to the presence of PVV party leader Geert Wilders, who has enjoyed added protection since the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh more than 15 years ago. However, the media has indicated that this agent would in fact have been assigned to Rutte.

The Dutch “Prime Minister” has behaved discreetly when it comes to security devices during his eleven years in office. He usually rode to work by bicycle or on foot, without any supervision whatsoever.

But the murder of public figures such as the journalist Peter R. de Vries or the lawyer Derk Wiersum has sounded the alarm. Finance Minister Wopke Hoekstra announced last week that a further 400 million euros would be spent next year on measures to combat organized crime, including more extensive security measures.
