MADRID, Oct. 2 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Las Vegas indigenous community of Tepemechín, in Honduras, denounced on Tuesday the shooting murder of environmental activist Alberto Redondo, who belongs to that tribe, as reported by the Telesur chain.
As several witnesses have pointed out, a group of armed and hooded subjects shot at Redondo, who died immediately at 6:00 p.m. (local time).
The natives, as well as their environmental defenders, are a clear target of murder. Social leaders have dedicated themselves to protecting the natural areas that belong to their villages, located in the Victoria municipality of the Yoro department.
According to local Honduran media, the residents of Las Vegas alerted security forces and reported the armed attack through various social networks.
This murder adds to the death of the Honduran environmentalist, Milgen Idán Soto Ávila, who was killed and thrown into a mass grave, after his disappearance was reported by relatives and relatives.
