The fintech sector has grown in importance in Peru and has grown by an estimated 16% compared to the previous year. This was reported by the Correo newspaper on September 21.
The medium quotes Javier Salinas, Director of the Center for ship and Innovation at the Universidad del Pacífico (Emprende UP). Salinas, in turn, cited a virtual survey sponsored by the institution that found the number of fintech firms providing personal loans, advisory firms, currency exchange, e-bill sales and other services increased from 130 in 2019 to 151 in 2020. “This corresponds to a growth of 16% compared to the previous year,” they emphasized.
On the other hand, Innova Funding’s manager María Laura Cuya spoke about fintech in connection with the pandemic:
“The pandemic was a challenge for farmers, breeders and farm workers who did not know how to use e-banking or digital tools. In the Amazon, we offer digital training, webinars, and other courses to keep you up to date without leaving your home. “
The article added that among other fintech companies in Peru are: Prestamype, Kambista, Latinfintech, Comparabien, Culqui, Seguro Simple, etc.
