The Guanajuato Procuratorate in Central Mexico announced Sunday that three people related to the “heinous crime” that killed 27 people in a rehabilitation center in Irapuato nearly a week ago had allegedly attacked his assailants on behalf of of the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel, José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, aka ‘El Marro’, who distanced himself from this attack.
“The announcement of the identification of three of the main defendants in such a heinous crime, against which the relevant court orders have been filed, has been announced. They are already detained,” the prosecutor said.
Survivors of the attack told the authorities that the heavily armed killers had stormed into the center, acting on the orders of ‘El Marro’.
The initial investigation revealed that the attackers’ goal was to eliminate a group of inmates belonging to the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel, contrary to the criminal gang led by ‘El Marro’.
