Zambian Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya announced on Friday that 15 members of the national parliament and 11 other staff at the institution had tested positive for coronavirus tests.
The minister, who did not mention the victims by name, said that everyone was isolated in quarantine centers and that none of the MPs were “seriously ill,” according to the Lusaka Times. The health of the rest of the staff is unknown.
On the other hand, the minister has reported that the country has registered 154 new cases of COVID-19 to add 3,856 infections since the disease was reported. Two other people have died in the past few hours. A total of 130 people have died in the country.
Meanwhile, 253 patients have been discharged among people treated in health centers and in isolation, increasing the total number of recovered patients to 1,941.
