The gastronomy made a “cacerolazo” and called on the authorities to be considered an essential company under the motto “We open or we die”.
Given this situation and the restaurant owners’ request for a clear opening date, the government installed a working table to reach an agreement with them.
This Monday, January 11th, the first dialogue took place and a possible date for the reopening of these stores is expected on January 13th.
On the information card of the Secretariat of the Government of Mexico CityAuthorities said this industry will not pay income tax (ISN), an amount that adds up to 20 million pesos.
For his part, Fadlala Akabani Hneide, head of the Ministry of Economic Development, said that gradually reopening restaurants will be a joint effort, stressing that reducing infections and hospital stays is everyone’s job.
He also noted that they will install the work tables necessary to reach an agreement.
