The White House says Trump only regrets “not having raised tariffs on China yet”

August 25, 2019

The White House has clarified this Sunday that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, only regrets “not having raised even more” tariffs to China after the president seemed to express doubts about the commercial war with the Asian giant in statements made during the G7 summit held in the French town of Biarritz.

“Of course I have doubts. I have doubts about anything,” Trump said this morning to the media.

In response, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham has issued a statement accusing the media of “greatly misunderstanding” Trump's comments.

“It was a positive response because he regrets not having raised tariffs even more” to Chinese products, his main instrument in the fight with Beijing, reads the note.
