The key scientific leader in the fight against coronavirus in the United States, Anthony Fauci, warned Tuesday before the North American country’s congress that the increase in cases of coronavirus was “worrying”.
Fauci, who attended a hearing from the House Energy and Trade Committee, has warned that if the infections are not fully identified, the victims are isolated, and contacts are followed, the situation will worsen. All in a context in which the U.S. is pushing ahead with economic reopening and easing the restrictions on pandemic control.
According to CNN television, a total of 25 states had registered the highest number of additional COVID-19 cases by Tuesday, compared to those confirmed a week earlier. Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Washington or Wyoming stand out.
For example, Fauci has indicated that the time is running out to tackle the increase in infections. “For the moment, the next two weeks will be critical to our ability to cope with the resurrections we are experiencing in Florida, Texas, Arizona and other states,” he said, as reported by The Hill newspaper.
