NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has appeared on Monday to report a historic change in the US criteria on Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which will now no longer be considered a violation of International Law.
“After carefully studying all angles of the legal debate, this Administration agrees with President (Ronald) Reagan” that the settlements are not in themselves illegal, he said. “The creation of Israeli civil settlements in the West Bank is not 'per se' a violation of International Law,” he said.
Pompeo has explained that this change has its origin in the decision of the Barack Obama Administration to allow the approval of Resolution 2334 of the UN Security Council, of December 2016, which considers these settlements a “flagrant violation” of the Law Interanational
