The US Supreme Court scraps the constitutional right to abortion

The US Supreme Court abolished the country’s constitutional right to abortion after declaring the leaked Roe v. Wade, which for the first time recognized women’s full right to an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy, a precedent used in the country since 1973.

The decision was passed with the approval of the six conservative justices and the disapproval of the three liberal justices of the Supreme Court.

Lawmakers from more than twenty conservative states were already preparing legislation that would ban or restrict abortion when the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade annulled, court sources told The New York Times earlier this month.

Thirteen of them have already prepared so-called “automatic activation laws” to limit or ban abortion rights while the Supreme Court overturns the ruling.
